Apricots are fruits of many species in the genus Prunus, and a relative of the peach, nectarine, plum and cherry. They are native to Uttarakhand and due to their flavour being sweet with only a hint of sourness, they are very popular as an ingredient in desserts, jams, chutneys & squashes. Apricots are rich in vitamin A, beta-carotene, other carotenoids, and are known to promote eye health due to the levels of Lutein they contain.
Our apricot concentrate is made from 100% pure apricot juice. It is made by squeezing the flesh to extract the juice, before a clarification process which includes a combination of enzymatic pre-treatment followed by filtration of cloudy juices. Then it is heated, causing the water content to evaporate. The concentrate is then packaged, frozen as required and shipped before water is added to bring it back to regular juice form.
