Chamomile or camomile is the common name for several daisy-like plants of the family Asteraceae. Two of the species are commonly used to make herbal infusions for traditional medicine. It has been consumed for centuries as a natural remedy for several health conditions.

The chamomile plant's flowers and buds are harvested for tea as the flowers open. It continually blooms for a few months, depending on the climate in which it's grown. After harvest, the flowers are dried to prolong the shelf life. When this occurs, the white petals turn a pale yellow and may fall off the yellow head, which is its most recognizable form.

Chamomile, also referred to as Babune ka Phal in Hindi, has a stellar reputation for healing and with good reason. It is prepared from dried flowers and it brings an oasis of calm and tranquility. Chamomile tea contains Chamazulene, an aromatic chemical compound that possesses anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antispasmodic properties. Whether you're overworked or suffering from a cold, steep a hot cup of Chamomile tea, inhale its wonderful floral fragrance and then see your worries disappear as you sip this magical golden brew. Chamomile tea is a popular beverage across the world, it is steeped with both health and skin benefits that are hard to find in many other teas. The benefits of chamomile tea are in abundance. It is not only soothing and refreshing, but can also be beneficial for you in more than just one way.

Health Benefits of Chamomile:

Although chamomile is a flavorful and aromatic herb, it is often sought out specifically for its health benefits. It has longstanding medicinal and spiritual uses. Chamomile has been used for centuries to treat a variety of health conditions. While it is widely used today in alternative and natural medicine, researchers continue to study chamomile's potential. It may help relieve colic, anxiety disorders, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and canker sores. Some preparations may help with inflammation and improve the quality of life for cancer patients, as well. Studies also suggest that it may be helpful for people with diabetes, osteoarthritis, and cardiovascular conditions.

Stress Relief - As a stress reliever and to help with insomnia, chamomile is one of the best herbs you can choose. The tea can be very calming, acting as a natural sedative. This effect can be enhanced by combining chamomile with other soothing herbs, such as lavender and rosemary, whether in tea or aromatherapy applications such as massage oils, herbal baths, or sleep pillows.

Anti-Inflammatory  - In various preparations, including tea, chamomile is touted for its anti-inflammatory properties. It may reduce symptoms associated with muscle spasms and pain, menstrual cramps and disorders, and gastrointestinal disorders. It may also have some effect on lowering blood sugar levels for people with diabetes. Topical preparations may reduce inflammation of the skin, such as dark circles under the eye, eczema, sunburns, and rashes.

Immune Boost -Though studies into the matter continue, there is evidence that chamomile may help boost the immune system. The tea is also a popular option for relieving some symptoms of the common cold, including a sore throat. The effect seems to be minimal and may be linked more to its calming properties.
