Keera Jadi / Kira jari a term for a rare fungus, scientifically known as Cordyceps sinensis , that grows on the larvae of a moth in the Himalayas. Also called Himalayan Gold, It is highly valued in traditional medicine as an energy booster, immune system support, and an "elixir of life". It is also called "insect herb" or "caterpillar fungus," and is known for its anti-aging, antioxidant, and performance-enhancing properties. 

What is it?

Appearance: A brown, worm-like fungus with a root that emerges from the ground.
Etymology: In Tibetan, Yarsagumba literally means "summer plant and winter insect," reflecting its nature. 

Where it is found
It is found at altitudes of around 3,800 meters in the Himalayas of Uttarakhand, Nepal and Tibet.
Local villagers collect it by carefully searching the meadows.
